After 36 seasons on the sidelines of the Los Fresnos High School gym, Becky Woods has decided to say good-bye.
The Lady Falcons' volleyball coach is retiring after recording 738 victories, a mark that stands number one among the Valley's volleyball coaches. She was honored by the Texas High School Girls' Coaches Association for notching her 600th and 700th victories.
Lady Falcon teams coached by Woods won 14 district championships, 19 bi-district championships, seven area championships, and four regional quarterfinal championships that resulted in four trips to the regional tournament. She has won numerous awards as Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
She also started the Lady Falcon softball program for 1994 and coached softball for three years. She was also assistant swim coach for seven years, and freshman girls' and JV girls' basketball coach for 18 years.
